The marathon is the race that closes the Mont-Blanc weekend: 42 km with 2,540 m of climbing. Frédéric Tranchand of France was second, about two and a half minutes back, and Spain's Manuel Merillas third. Adrien Briffod of Switzerland was fourth in 3:46:20 and Kenya's Kevin Kibet fifth in 3:46:42. The results list 2,299 finishers.
Tove Alexandersson of Sweden won the women's race in 3:55:07 and was 11th overall. Ida Amélie Robsahm was second in 4:18:28 and Naomi Lang third in 4:21:23.
The weekend had already seen the 90 km on Friday, won by Louison Coiffet in 9:37:22, and on the 23 km course Benjamin Polin of France and Oria Liaci of Switzerland won in about 2:06 and 2:26.
Bonnet is the best uphill runner of his generation and a 42 km with 2,540 m of up is his sort of marathon. Alexandersson's 23-minute margin says she has stopped being a visitor to the sport.
