Nadia Battocletti won the women's 10,000 m at the European Championships in Birmingham on Friday in 31:41.17, three days after winning the 5000 m. Maureen Koster of the Netherlands was second in 31:45.76 and Jana Van Lent of Belgium third in 31:47.81, with Spain's Idaira Prieto fourth in 31:59.84 and Italy's Elisa Palmero fifth in 32:00.06.

In Birmingham she took the 5000 m on Tuesday in 15:37.84 from Marta García and Micol Majori, then came back for 25 laps and closed out the 10,000 m with a lead of a little over four seconds.

Ireland's Fiona Everard was 20th in 33:08.60 in her first major championship on the track. The night also saw Audrey Werro beat Keely Hodgkinson over 800 m and Kate O'Connor move into third in the heptathlon after four events.

Two titles, 15,000 metres of racing, three days. The 10,000 m always looks like the hard one; the hard one is coming back for it.
